What legalisation is
Legalisation is the procedure by which the Embassy certifies the authenticity of a signature, the capacity in which the signatory acted, or the identity of the seal affixed to a document. It allows a foreign document to be recognised in the Republic of the Congo, and the reverse.
Documents concerned
Public documents
Notarial deeds, court decisions, administrative documents.
Private documents
Powers of attorney, attestations, sworn declarations.
Commercial documents
Invoices, certificates of origin, customs documents.
Academic documents
Diplomas, transcripts, certificates of enrolment.
Procedure
Come to the consular section with the original document, a copy and valid identification. Legalisation is normally carried out the same day, subject to any further checks.
